WELCOME TO FONTAINEBLEAU : DAY TRIP ITINERARY

While Versailles may be the most popular of the French Palaces amongst tourists, Fontainebleau was certainly the first choice for the French nobility. Passed down from generation to generation from the middle ages to the 19th century, Fontainebleau was the real family home for French kings. It is an incredible town and Castle that will give you a rare glimpse into the family and personal life of the French aristocracy. 

This day trip itinerary will take you through the entire town of Fontainebleau including all of the fun activities and delicious restaurants that I recommend. It also includes an optional trip to the village of Barbizon and a secret hike known only to locals. 

Please note : this itinerary is largely done on foot, with the exception of the train you will need to take to Fontainebleau and the short taxi or Uber that you will take to Barbizon.
